Mary Francis at Caladium Arts Crafts

Mary Francis

Mary Francis travels to the co-op from Lake Alfred in Polk county. She works in a number of mediums and has brought a variety of wonderfully unique items to the Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-op.

Mary has been a decorative artist since 1989,startedMary Francis in 1989 as a “stress reliever” for her high-tension job. She started painting in Colorado, with a teacher who taught several mediums: oil, acrylic, and acrylic gouache. Since then she has learned to use watercolor, color pencil, and pen and ink. Her favorite medium currently is color pencil. She has started to learn portraiture in color pencil and finds it very enjoyable. Mary enjoys learning and tries to attend as many classes and seminars as money
and time permits.

Mary has held many offices in the Society of Decorative Painters’ Chapters in both Colorado and Florida. Her Florida Chapter, Osceola Decorative Artists (a chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters) in Kissimmee was where she served twice as president of the chapter. Mary finds that painting and the arts is what helps generate good friendships and wonderful experiences.

Mary was also the June 2019 Artist/Crafter of the Month
